Madison Fire Hazmat Team says call to alleged poison plot scene was ‘rare’

MADISON, Wis. —Typically, the Madison Fire Hazmat Unit responds to one or two calls a month but in mid-June, crews spent three days addressing incidents at three different sites- link to an alleged poison plot.

Paul Van Duyne Jr. and Andrea Whitaker are charged in Dane County and Rock County for allegedly stalking and trying to kill women in both counties with various poisons. Court records claim the pair would break into the women’s cars leaving chemicals like cyanide, thallium, hydrogen sulfide and abrin.
