A fire that started during construction operations was caught quickly, preventing occupants from being displaced from their home Thursday morning.
Firefighters responded to a home on Spaight Street at 11:07 AM for a possible structure fire. While en route, Engine Co. 3 and other responding companies were advised that contractors were working on the roof and had reportedly been doing some welding.
Engine 3 arrived to find the contractor on an extension ladder using a garden hose to spray water into the soffit of the second story.
