MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – A new bronze statue honoring mothers and the bond between mother and child was unveiled in the Darbo-Worthington neighborhood Tuesday.
The statue was made by Detroit-based artist Austen Brantley and is called, “Mother and Child.”
He had conversations with members of the neighborhood before constructing the sculpture.
“The community really wanted to see themselves represented, and to have the community that calls Darbo-Worthington home help, in conversation, shape the artist’s work, really allows the work then to reflect the community which now houses this piece,” said Nick Pjevach, Chair of the Madison Arts Commission…
