MIDDLETON, Wis. (WMTV) -The Middleton Police Department has introduced a new program aimed at helping first responders better respond to situations with people with invisible disabilities, like autism.
ID Visible was started by Justin Houcek, founder of ASDwithME. Houcek was diagnosed with autism when he was 46 years old, and since then has worked to help others on the spectrum.
The program, newly implemented by the Middleton Police Department, allows those with invisible disabilities to mark their disability on a sticker that goes on the back window of their vehicle. The sticker is meant to be seen by first responders as they approach the vehicle, so they can be better prepared for their interactions…
