MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – As we head into Sunday evening, smoke continues to be our main weather concern. That faint campfire smell and the hazy look to the sky? That’s smoke from central Saskatchewan, and it’s sticking around through tonight. Visibility may dip to 3 to 6 miles in spots, and an Air Quality Advisory remains in effect until conditions improve.
By late tonight, shifting winds will begin to push the smoke northward, and air quality should slowly improve by Monday morning. We’ll also see a few clouds hang around into the evening, but no widespread rain is expected. A few sprinkles or light showers can’t be ruled out, but the chance is low and mainly north of the I-90 corridor.
Temperatures on Monday climb into the mid-80s to upper 80s, with dewpoints pushing into the muggy range. Most of the day looks dry, but a weak boundary to the north might bring a stray afternoon shower.
What’s Coming Up…
Tuesday continues the summer warmth with similar temps and more humidity, but it’s Tuesday night into Wednesday when things start to get more interesting. A slow-moving system sliding out of the Plains will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms that are likely to develop Wednesday afternoon and evening.
