MADISON, Wis. — A Sun Prairie man was sentenced to two-and-a-half-years for gun possession and ammunition as a convicted felon. The prison term will be followed by three years of supervised release.
Cashius Carter, 21, was sentenced after a Fitchburg police officer stopped a vehicle that Carter was driving on Sept 25, 2024. The vehicle reportedly smelled of marijuana and the officer asked Carter to exit the vehicle so it could be searched.
Carter drove from the scene but was ultimately caught. In the vehicle, the officer found a loaded Glock 19 9mm with an extended magazine between the driver’s seat and the center console. In the back seat, officers recovered almost 700 grams of marijuana. The Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory later recovered Carter’s DNA on the firearm…
