Suspect arrested after allegedly stealing, attempting to sell landscaping equipment in Wisconsin

MONONA, Wis. (WFRV) – A 26-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested Monday after allegedly stealing landscaping equipment from a vehicle and trying to sell the items online.

According to the Monona Police Department, officers responded to a theft complaint around 11:10 a.m. regarding stolen landscaping equipment from a vehicle. Working with the victim, police were able to gather a detailed description of the missing items.

During the investigation, authorities discovered similar items listed for sale on a social media site. The descriptions and images closely matched those of the stolen equipment.

Monona officers coordinated a response, using covert tactics to arrange a meeting with the suspect at an address in Madison. A plain-clothed detective made initial contact with the suspect outside the residence and confirmed the presence of the stolen items.

As uniformed officers approached, the suspect began walking away before fleeing into a mobile home. He then attempted to escape by jumping out of a rear window but was quickly apprehended…
