Madison residents and commuters, brace yourselves for some traffic adjustments. According to an official City of Madison announcement, Sherman Avenue will undergo a closure in the southbound lane starting from the crack of dawn today, July 31. The roadway will be shut between Fordem Avenue and Marston Avenue until tomorrow afternoon, August 1, to make way for utility installations linked to a nearby private development.
During this short logistical ballet, southbound local access on Sherman Avenue will still be upheld, but for the broader stream of vehicles, a detour will reroute the traffic ensemble. Drivers are advised to take Fordem Avenue to East Johnson Street, then swing onto Marston Avenue to bypass the closure. In it’s northbound glory, Sherman Avenue will keep its lanes open, coursing against the tide of the construction disruption.
The work, which is a necessary step in the development process, will bring utility improvements that serve the future needs of the community. As crews descend upon the avenue with their machinery and purpose, residents will watch the familiar dance of progress — steel and sweat under the summer sun, biting into the earth for the promise of tomorrow’s prosperity…
