Madison school district next weighs interior designs of new buildings

Nine months after voters approved a $507 million referendum to pay for the reconstruction or renovation of 10 school buildings, most of the work remains behind the scenes.

The Madison Metropolitan School District is completing some site surveying and geotechnical drilling this summer in preparation for future construction, but major details of the projects continue to be ironed out.

Edell Fiedler, a spokesperson for the school district, said the community will next be invited to provide input on the referendum projects this fall. Fiedler said groundbreaking on the first buildings could then start as early as March next year…
