MADISON, Wis. — The Dane County Sheriff’s Jail Diversion Program offers an alternative to jail or prison for some.
“You can do anything that is going to help to better yourself, school, treatment, any kind of work, job search but you can not do social things, no bars, no restaurants, no graduations,” said Deputy Ben Kunde with the Dane County Sheriff’s office while setting up two inmates for the Jail Diversion Program.
Generally, those who qualify for the program are individuals with behavioral health issues. That includes those with a mental illness or substance use disorder…
