Madison, Wis. – A line of strong thunderstorms is sweeping across southern Wisconsin this afternoon, bringing heavy rain, gusty winds and the threat of hail to several communities. The system is tracking east-southeast, raising concerns for both Madison and the Milwaukee metro area into the evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, organized storms are currently impacting the Madison area and may intensify as they move east. An outflow boundary pushing toward Milwaukee could spark additional pop-up storms, some capable of producing damaging winds.
Cities from Janesville to Oconomowoc remain under the threat of strong wind gusts, with reports already coming in from communities west of Madison.
