Apply Now: Special Sandhill Wildlife Area Deer Hunt In Wisconsin

Named after the series of gently rolling sandy ridges that crisscross the property, the Sandhill State Wildlife Area in Wisconsin is an impressive 9,150-acre property that is managed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources employees.

The property boasts a unique 9-foot deer-proof fence, which creates an ideal environment for wildlife research. The DNR notes that while special permits and restrictions are in place within the fenced area of the property, visitors are welcome to enter through the designated entrance gates to explore and recreate.

Throughout the year, the area provides a variety of educational activities with wildlife staff, volunteers, and guest instructors conducting various workshops, primarily on weekends. A shooting range, trails, and opportunities for supervised hunting and trapping experiences are also a part of the outdoor skills programs.
