The owners of A Pig in a Fur Coat announced Tuesday that they will permanently close the restaurant opened in 2012 at 940 Williamson St. and it will become a second location of Alimentari, an Italian deli and sandwich shop. The last day of service at A Pig in a Fur Coat will be Sept. 26, 2025.
“It’s time to close,” says Dan Bonanno, who owns the restaurant and owns the building along with Bonnie Arent. “I kind of want to take a step away for a little bit and kind of just regroup and revitalize.”
Bonanno and Arent opened the restaurant along with sous chef Jonathan Huttsell. “I was 27 years old when it opened — I’m a different person now,” Bonanno says. “I learned a lot, but I’m ready to put my knowledge into something else.”
In 2018, the three — along with Bonanno’s brother, Enrico Bonanno — opened Alimentari, an Italian deli and sandwich counter in the strip mall (308 S. Brearly St.) right behind the restaurant in 2018.
