Letter: Let justice guide us all

If you have the chance, I recommend seeing the exhibit at the Verona Library titled “Unjust Deeds.”

It is there through the end of September. This educational exhibit explores the history of racial covenants in Dane County and beyond.

It is both interesting and sad that many of these covenants are still in place today, though not enforced. Racial covenants were put in place to keep areas all white. Suburbs especially. The 1950 Monona Winnequah Terrace subdivision covenant had in its contract, “No part of said platted premises shall ever be conveyed to, used, owned or occupied by any persons other than of the Caucasian race, either as owner or tenant.”…
