Employee Health Coverage Under Scrutiny As Dane County Faces Deficit

As Dane County faces a projected $31 million deficit for 2026, all county departments are currently under a directive to cut their budgets by 4%.

At a special meeting last night, members of the county board’s Personnel & Finance Committee weighed whether to pass an addendum that would change the county’s existing health insurance contract with Dean Health Plan to save $6 million in 2026 – and raise health care costs for county employees.
