We’re cutting loose with the 2025 Best of Madison winners, some of whom attended Madison Magazine’s prom-themed photoshoot to celebrate. We set the stage with food, music and a dance floor, and it turned into a night to remember filled with sparkly moments, grand entrances, after-party pizza and a punch bowl that was most definitely spiked (we have photographic evidence). These partygoers are among the 453 people, places and businesses you named the best in our 44th annual readers’ poll — let’s hear it for our winners!
Also in this issue, Emma Waldinger digs into mounting evidence that traditional farming methods are devastating the future of Wisconsin’s farms, water and landscape — more than they are stewarding them. A growing cohort of local farmers, scientists and policy advocates are championing a transition to perennial grassland systems — an approach that works with nature to clean up our waterways, mitigate the effects of climate disaster and build future resilience for generations of farmers to come.
