More than 2,300 muskies dumped into Madison-area lakes

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – For decades, Capital City Muskies and the Wisconsin DNR have teamed up to stock Lake Wingra, Monona and Waubesa with Muskellunges.

It’s essential for this process to happen because Muskellunges, also known as muskies, don’t naturally reproduce in big enough numbers to support fishing in Wisconsin.

On Thursday, more than 2,300 muskies were stocked, with Lake Wingra receiving a hundred, Lake Monona receiving 1,200 and Lake Waubesa receiving a little more than a thousand…
