Joe Sensenbrenner, Madison’s mayor from 1983 to 1989, hasn’t been on the front pages in recent years, but both he and his wife Mary Ellyn have been as active as ever helping make Madison a better place.
That’s why I was glad to see Community Shares of Wisconsin honoring this outstanding Madison couple last week with their annual Liesl Blockstein Community Leadership Award.
For decades, the couple have been active, often with their own resources, in preserving open spaces for public use.
