MADISON – The streets of Madison came alive on Saturday, Sept. 6, as local athletes rose to the challenge of Ironman Wisconsin 70.3.
Competitors faced a tough course that began with a 1.2 mile swim in Lake Monona, followed by a 56 mile bike ride on hilly and bumpy Wisconsin roads and capped off with a 13.1 mile half marathon run on the shore of Lake Monona.
Starting in brisk upper-40-degree temperatures at 7 a.m., athletes pushed through the cool lake waters before the day warmed into ideal race conditions in the low to mid-60s, accompanied by gusty winds…
