Tow truck driver arrested after chase injures Madison officer

MONONA, Wis. — Monona Police Department arrested a Madison tow truck driver after they said he led officers on a chase that led to serious injuries of a Madison police officer.

Officers were dispatched just before 2 p.m. for a report of a tow truck driver reportedly operating recklessly on Highway 51. The reporting party indicated the driver nearly struck multiple vehicles while driving on the highway. The caller reported the driver had pulled into the BP gas station at 1220 E. Broadway.

Monona police arrived on scene and as they approached the truck, the driver reportedly took off and drove over the grass and curb to exit from the lot onto eastbound Broadway. The driver proceeded into another parking lot where it again jumped over the curb and sidewalk, back onto westbound Broadway to continue driving away from officers.
