From Hawthorne Elementary to Whitehorse Middle School to La Follette High School, Andrea Missureli grew up in Madison public schools. She started working in the school district as a substitute teacher in 2008 and has been here ever since.
Now, Missureli leads Madison Teachers Inc., the union that represents about 2,700 educators and employees in the Madison Metropolitan School District. She assumed the role this summer after the past president, Mike Jones, served the maximum term limit.
On leave from her typical role teaching math at Wright Middle School for the duration of her two-year term, Missureli joked she’s still adjusting to not having the bell schedule run her life.
