Packers Ave. railroad crossing to be replaced starting Oct. 27

MADISON, Wis. — The railroad crossing on Packers Ave. north of International Lane, which has become a nightmare for Madison drivers and their vehicles’ suspension systems, will be replaced later this month.

The City of Madison announced Friday that CPKC Railroad will begin fixing the crossing beginning at 6 a.m. on Oct. 27. The work will last about four days, with the schedule subject to change based on weather conditions.

The crossing is right in the middle of one of Madison’s more popular thoroughfares, but time and the elements have taken their toll and created a very bumpy ride…
