107 State to close, citing financial struggles after pandemic and failed expansion

MADISON, Wis. — 107 State, an Italian-inspired tavern on State Street in Madison, will have its last call Thursday night.

Owner Nathan Mergen announced plans to close the restaurant in an Instagram post on Wednesday, citing financial struggles that emerged because of the COVD-19 pandemic as well as a failed expansion into Mount Horeb, Bar Manzo.

Mergen opened Bar Manzo in the building that was previously home to Skal Public House last year, however it closed just six months later…
