Woman who tried to kill father because she thought he was the devil pleads not guilty

MADISON, Wis. — A woman accused of trying to stab her father to death because she hallucinated him as the devil pleaded not guilty Thursday, online court records show.

Jamie Anderson, 34, of Madison is charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide by use of a dangerous weapon with a domestic abuse assessment.

Judge Ellen Berz found Anderson competent to stand trial earlier this month, and she appeared for a preliminary hearing and arraignment Thursday. During the hearing, Judge Berz found probable cause to move the case forward and Anderson’s attorney entered a not-guilty plea on her behalf.

Prosecutors allege Anderson walked 16 miles from Madison to her father’s Stoughton home in order to kill him. According to a criminal complaint, he had to get staples in his head and surgery on his arm after the attack…
