Monona Residents Encouraged to Support Local Food and Clothing Drive as Need Rises in Dane County

Food insecurity is increasing in Dane County, affecting nearly 65,000 residents. In response, Monona and the Madison Metro area are providing support. St. Stephens Food Pantry, at 5700 Pheasant Hill Road in Monona, offers assistance to people in need across the county.

The City of Monona has placed donation boxes at City Hall, the Library, the Community Center, and Maywood School. Residents can donate non-perishable food items. The pantry especially needs ketchup, mustard, peanut butter, jelly, canned soups, and powdered laundry detergent. New or gently used brown paper grocery bags are also accepted.

St. Stephens Food Pantry and Secondhand Closet accept direct donations, including fresh and frozen foods, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Perishable items like cheese and yogurt are in demand. As winter approaches, donations of warm secondhand clothing are also needed. Financial donations can be made by mail, in person, or online.
