VERONA, Wis. (WMTV) – Family members of two victims killed in a deadly Tesla crash have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the electric vehicle manufacturer, claiming the car’s door system trapped passengers inside the burning vehicle.
Jeffrey and Michelle Bauer were among five people killed last November when the 2016 Tesla Model S they were in went off Range Trail, hit a tree and caught fire in the town of Verona.
According to the lawsuit, the car lost power after catching fire, making the doors “useless.” The suit claims that when the battery power is lost, the door handle will not function.
