Downtown Street Closures and Traffic Changes for Madison Marathon This Weekend

The Madison Marathon will take place on Sunday. The event will cause street closures and traffic changes in downtown Madison. All races start at 7:00 am. The final runner is expected to finish by 1:30 pm. Police officers and volunteers will be present along the course to manage traffic and assist runners and drivers.

Streets will reopen after the last runner passes each closure point. Roads around Capitol Square will stay closed until Sunday evening. Some closures begin at 8:00 am on Saturday. These include Wisconsin Avenue between Mifflin and Dayton Streets, and the 100 and 200 blocks of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. More closures will follow the end of the Farmers’ Market. Affected streets include Pinckney, Main, Mifflin, Carroll, and East Washington Avenue.

During the marathon, several major roads will have full or partial lane closures. These include North Shore Drive, West Washington Avenue, Park Street, Monona Drive, Fish Hatchery Road, Williamson/Winnebago, Monroe Street, East Mifflin, and East Dayton Street.
