Madison Launches Community Food Drive to Support Residents Affected by Federal Shutdown

On November 8, 2025, the City of Madison announced a community food drive in response to the federal government shutdown, which has affected FoodShare benefits and local food access. The drive will collect donations for the Second Harvest Foodbank. Drop-off bins are located in the City County Building and Madison Municipal Building. Needed items include canned foods, beans, cereal, rice, pasta, and peanut butter.

The City’s Double Dollars Program will continue to provide nutrition benefits to SNAP users, regardless of EBT card balances.
