Madison police arrest man after gunshot sets off fire sprinkler system

MADISON, Wis. — Madison police arrested a man early Wednesday who they said fired a gun in an apartment complex, causing a fire sprinkler system to activate.

Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 100 block of South Fair Oaks Ave. on Madison’s east side at around 2:38 a.m. While responding to the sprinkler, Madison firefighters had found that a bullet hit the ceiling and punctured a water pipe.

Police said the gun was found and its owner, a 23-year-old man, was arrested. He faces charges of second-degree reckless endangering safety, endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapons and drug charges…
