Police Respond to Multiple Serious Incidents Across Local Districts on November 17-18

Between 6:00 a.m. on November 17 and 6:00 a.m. on November 18, 2025, local police responded to 384 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or accidental 911 calls. The calls were distributed as follows: Central (56), East (99), Midtown (56), North (62), South (43), West (57), and 11 calls listed as ‘Other,’ which usually involve assistance to agencies outside the city.

From 11:55 a.m. to 10:18 p.m. on November 17, officers responded only to priority calls due to resource and staffing limitations. During this period, a crash occurred on the Beltline near Fish Hatchery Road at 11:20 a.m. Two vehicles were racing, and one struck another car, pushing it under a semi-truck and causing a fire. The driver of the uninvolved car sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Several suspects left the scene.

At 11:38 a.m. in the East district, a 44-year-old man died after fleeing a traffic stop by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle lost control on Highway 51 near Pflaum Road, hit a tree, and caught fire. Rescue attempts were unsuccessful, and the Medical Examiner was notified…
