‘My rock’: Resident shares emotional move into new Porchlight apartments

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – After decades of cycling through homelessness, temporary housing and starting over, one Porchlight resident says moving into the nonprofit’s new East Washington Avenue facility feels like something he’s spent a lifetime hoping for: stability.

Porchlight officially opened its new eight-story permanent supportive housing building this week, welcoming residents into 70 fully furnished apartments. Volunteers stocked each unit with kitchen and bathroom essentials, hoping to make the transition feel like a true fresh start.
