Dear Editor: To say they have courage is a description given of someone who possesses the mental and moral strength to face uncertainty or difficulty head-on. It includes, but is not exclusive to, standing up for principles, having a strong moral compass or persevering through challenging situations despite the risk of negative consequences.
They don’t necessarily lack fear, but rather act in spite of fear.
Courage has many faces: soldiers in battle, whistle blowers and those who face the life-threatening illness with vigor and fortitude, to name a few…
