It’s not every day you get to see Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy don a red cape and perform his best James Brown impression.
Jeff Tweedy’s long history with Madison stretches back 30 years, to early Wilco shows at The Barrymore and the late Club de Wash. Since then, he’s made plenty of stops here — 18 with Wilco alone — performing in just about every venue the city has to offer.
In that time, Tweedy has amassed quite the fanbase in Madison, many of whom turned out Friday night as he and his band returned for the final performance of the 2025 Twilight Override tour. The sold-out Wisconsin Union Theater crowd got exactly what they came for: a warm, crowd-pleasing set from an artist who seems to be getting more prolific every year.
Tweedy released his latest solo album, “Twilight Override,” in September. Spanning 30 tracks, the triple album is Tweedy’s project to meet the moment — his own act of resistance against the darkness he was seeing in the news and around the world…
