Badgers sweep North Carolina in 3 hard-fought sets to advance to Sweet Sixteen

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin volleyball team has not missed a Sweet Sixteen since Kelly Sheffield took over as head coach in 2013, and that annual tradition did not end Friday night.

The Badgers booked their ticket to the third round of the NCAA Tournament in dramatic style, sweeping North Carolina at the Field House (25-14, 25-21, 27-25) behind 22 kills from Mimi Colyer.

Simply calling the match a sweep would diminish the phenomenal effort put forth by the Tar Heels. The underdog visitors pushed the Badgers to the limit in the final two sets and will feel hard-done not to have captured one for themselves…
