Man given probation after pleading guilty to setting apartment fire

MADISON, Wis. — A 54-year-old Madison man was ordered to three years of probation after setting a fire at his apartment, displacing five people earlier this year, online court records show.

Vince Hildestad went missing for about a week after he set his apartment on fire on May 20 in the 1700 block of Blossom Lane.

A criminal complaint obtained by Channel3000.com alleges that Hildestad found out that he has Parkinson’s disease and told investigators he wanted to give his cat “a proper cremation.”…
