MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -The one-year mark of the deadly shooting at Abundant Life Christian School is Dec. 16. A local nonprofit that offered its services for the school during the tragedy is continuing its mission to help people heal from trauma with the help of service dogs.
Custom Canines Service Dog Academy, a volunteer-powered nonprofit, has expanded its services beyond veterans and first responders to include rapid crisis response for schools and communities affected by tragic events.
The organization raises, trains, and gifts service dogs to those in need. Custom Canines also dispatches its CARE team (Crisis Assistance and Response Enhancement team). The team provides immediate support following active shooter events, natural disasters and other traumatic incidents…
