Wisconsin committee OKs $185M in projects, including revamp of juvenile corrections system

MADISON (WLUK) — Funding was allocated Wednesday for Wisconsin’s juvenile corrections system to be reformed.

Gov. Tony Evers announced the State Building Commission has approved approximately $185 million in construction projects statewide.

That includes money to build a Type 1 Juvenile Correctional Facility in Fitchburg, which will help convert the Lincoln Hills School for Boys and Copper Lake School for Girls in Irma to medium-security adult facilities by providing a smaller, more central youth facility in Dane County. The new juvenile facility is expected to be complete in late 2028, with Lincoln Hills and Copper Lake planned to close in early 2029…
