Beginning a fitness journey without a proper understanding of your health goals and body’s needs can be challenging, which is where DexaFit can help. They take the guesswork out of your nutrition and fitness by providing real data about your body using cutting-edge technology.
Owners Jessica and Adam Kuchnia opened the health and fitness testing center on Madison’s west side in 2019, and this month they’ll open their second location in Sun Prairie with the same goal: helping individuals optimize their health. Whether you’re an athlete developing a training plan or someone trying to lose weight or craft a nutrition and exercise routine focused on longevity, the first step is undergoing a DEXA scan to establish a baseline. “It gives you data on your fat mass, muscle mass, muscle symmetry, visceral fat — which is the fat around the organs — and bone density,” Jessica Kuchnia explains.
The DEXA scan is a great starting point, but DexaFit offers comprehensive testing that includes resting metabolic rate monitoring to determine nutritional needs, VO2 Max testing to assess cardiovascular fitness and optimize training, advanced functional movement assessments to help prevent injuries and grip strength assessments to evaluate muscle health. All the tests are quick and noninvasive, and results are available immediately. “We offer guidance and recommendations on how to optimize your health, but we’re not going to bombard anyone with a million things they need to change,” Kuchnia says. “We focus on a few small goals, and in about three months we scan again to see if any tweaks need to be made.”
Physical health requires constant attention, and knowing your body’s specific needs is crucial to forming long-term healthy habits. “What you’re doing now matters,” says Kuchnia. “If you have the data now, you can be proactive to prevent negative health outcomes down the road.”…
