Opinion | The Cap Times had a strong 2025 — with much more to come

We have been working behind the scenes on a strategic plan all year and you will see evidence of its rollout in the new year. It has been built to create even stronger news and opinion journalism and a deeper connection to you via a rich array of live events.

But for this year-end column, I would like to recount some of our many 2025 successes as we celebrate 108 years since William T. Evjue founded the Cap Times in a three-floor storefront on King Street.

We had considerable outside validation of our performance this year. Cap Times journalism was recognized with a combined 34 awards from the Wisconsin Newspaper Association and the Milwaukee Press Club, including 10 first-place honors. These contests drew thousands of entries from more than 100 news organizations statewide…
