Cultivate your farm’s future with the help of UW-Madison of Rock County

(WIFR) – Data from the USDA’s Census of Agriculture reports there are approximately 130,000 farms throughout Wisconsin and Illinois.

UW-Madison’s Rock County extension wants to help farm families and businesses shape the future of their land with the Cultivating Your Farm’s Future workshop series.

Outreach specialist Joy Kirkpatrick explains this series provides tools and resources for farmers who are ready to start their succession plans. And that all begins with asking yourself 3 questions:

  • Where are you now?
  • Where do you want to be?
  • How do you get there?

Cultivating Your Farm’s Future helps owners transfer to the next generation, as well as develop a fair inheritance distribution plan. If you are the next generation, the series will help answer questions or spark ideas about your role in the farm businesses and how to make it financially feasible and realistic for your goals.
