DEFOREST, Wis. (WMTV) – More than 1,000 DeForest residents signed a petition looking to give them more power when it comes to annexing land. That petition was introduced at a village board meeting Tuesday night.
The move comes after a newly proposed data center from QTS which would require the annexation of nearly 1,600 acres of farmland from the Town of Vienna.
The petition proposed an ordinance requiring any annexation of land over 30 acres or a financial obligation of more than $10 million be submitted to the public as a referendum.
