Beat the Winter Blues at the Madison Senior Center

When the days get shorter and the temperatures drop, many people find themselves feeling a bit down or isolated. It’s a common feeling, often referred to as the “winter blues.” But you don’t have to let cold weather keep you from staying active, social, and engaged. One of the best ways to lift your spirits during the chilly months? Make the Madison Senior Center part of your winter routine!

Make the Senior Center Part of Your Week

The Madison Senior Center, located at 330 West Mifflin Street, is a welcoming space designed just for older adults—and it’s filled with activities, services, and friendly faces.

Hours of Operation:

  • Mondays & Fridays: 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Tuesdays – Thursdays: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Whether you stop in for a hot lunch, a fitness class, or just a change of scenery, getting out of the house regularly can-do wonders for your mood and well-being.

Getting There is Easier Than You Think

There are plenty of ways to get to the Madison Senior Center—even in winter!

  • Take a sunny stroll (weather permitting) if you live nearby.
  • Hop on the Madison Metro Bus – plan your route at cityofmadison.com/metro.

  • Carpool with friends – it’s more fun and environmentally friendly!
  • Use Paratransit, Uber, or Lyft if you need door-to-door service.

From physical activity to lifelong learning, the Madison Senior Center offers something for everyone:

  • Body Movement Classes: Gentle Yoga, Rosen Method Movement, and (by request) Line Dancing!
