Fitchburg’s Pier earns Eagle Scout rank

Fitchburg’s Henry Pier earned the rank of Eagle Scout in September and recently held his Eagle Court of Honor ceremony at Salem United Church of Christ in Verona, celebrating the big achievement with his family and fellow scouting families. Henry has learned lifelong skills and has made many memories in scouting.

Henry started Cub Scouts as a Wolf Scout at age 7 with Pack 549 in Verona, earned his Arrow of Light, and ultimately crossed into Boy Scouts with Verona Troop 349. While in Troop 349, Henry completed 54 merit badges, participated in campouts, service projects, fundraising, was active at weekly meetings, and held leadership roles. Most notably, he completed two high adventure backpacking treks at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico in the summers of 2022 and 2025.

In the summer of 2025, Henry completed his Eagle Scout project. He wanted to do a service project to give back to the Madison School Forest where he spent many summers. He built 4 benches with help from scouts and scout leaders that were placed at the Madison School Forest for hikers and students to enjoy while visiting the Olson Oak Woods State Natural Area…
