Wisconsin gets good news and bad AP Top 25 news after stunning Michigan

Wisconsin did something that no other college basketball team has done this season: beat Michigan. The Wolverines were and are considered the top-ranked NET team. They are the team to beat in the Big Ten, and Wisconsin beat them. That caused quite a stir in the college basketball world, the Badgers weren’t considered a tournament team and then the bracketologists had to go back to their models and fix that. Now, the AP Top 25 has come out, and Wisconsin got good and bad news.

The good news for Wisconsin is that they are finally catching the attention of the voters, beating Michigan will do that. They received 37 votes, and it’s their first votes they’ve had since the beginning of the season. This means, according to AP Top 25 voters, they are on the outside looking in.

They are currently behind St. Louis, with 92 votes; Kansas, with 60; Iowa, with 58; Miami (OH), receiving 49 votes; and Villanova, with 40. That’s good news, ahead of a schedule that should be manageable in the next couple of weeks for Wisconsin. They will see only quad-2 through quad-4 opponents until February…
