Alliant Energy plans 277-MW wind farm in Columbia County

Alliant Energy wants to build the most powerful wind farm in the state in Columbia County.

The Madison-based power company expects the Public Service Commission to respond to its filing for a planned 277-megawatt wind farm by early next year, which would set up the construction of more than 40 turbines to finish by the end of 2028. Alliant in its press release announcing the filing said the project would include roughly 100-150 construction jobs.

The company has already entered into an agreement with Chicago-based turbine manufacturer Nordex, which recently restarted production of parts for some of its most powerful turbines in Iowa…
