Hundreds in Madison donate food, funds to protest ICE activity

On Friday, over 500 people attended the Midwest Melts ICE Community Fair at the Madison Labor Temple to make art, donate food and essential items to people in the Twin Cities. Attendees learned more about their rights and what to do when they see Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in their neighborhood.

The event was hosted by ACAB Underground School, a collective of around 20 friends “who focus on art and political education as a way to empower our community to take action through effective organizing,” said Marco Vallejos, one of the group’s members.

ACAB in this case stands for Autonomous Community Action Basics (ACAB). Some folks declined to share last names or be photographed directly. ICE has been known to retaliate against peaceful protesters.
