Madison celebrates four new affordable homes, with more on the way

Madison’s Owl Creek neighborhood has a long history. A developer started to build out the subdivision in the early 2000s, but work stalled during the Great Recession. For years, more than half of the 39-acre site was left undeveloped.

The city spent more than half a million dollars in 2014 to acquire the remaining lots from the bank. And over the last decade, the city established a neighborhood park and granted a few lots to developers to complete the build-out.

Madison leaders and members of the community braved the bitter cold Wednesday morning to celebrate the completion of their latest development: a pair of twin homes that are now ready to house four families at an affordable price…
