Jim Post knows all too well what it means to be downstream. And he’s taken a mouthful or two of the “Big Muddy” along the way to prove it.
Water has always been a big part of life for the Davenport, Iowa transplant, who grew up waterskiing the mighty Mississippi River before moving to the area in 1988. As a leading member of the Friends of Badfish Creek Watershed, Post got the idea to turn an unused three-acre parcel of land on County A into an ideal paddler’s launch and welcome public green space along the creek.
But it would require bringing together the Town of Rutland and the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD), which owned the land but had stopped using it decades ago…
