Wisconsin Senate hears bill to criminalize grooming children

MADISON, Wis. (Gray) – A bag of 80 lollipops sat by the front door of a Chippewa Falls home, ready to be handed out to neighborhood children.

Police say the candy was actually a lure. A man in his 70s was using the lollipops in at attempt to groom children. In police interviews, the man confessed he was sexually attracted to boys ages 10 to 12 years old, and said he would sexually assault a neighbor’s child if left alone with him.

Despite revealing his true intentions, investigators had to walk away empty-handed. Grooming children is not a crime under Wisconsin law…
