School board discusses how state funding, property values impact tax bills

During a Monday, Jan. 26 Board of Education meeting, Verona Area School District (VASD) Deputy Superintendent Chad Wiese shared a detailed explanation of how Wisconsin’s state funding model, Department of Revenue (DOR) property equalization and local property values work together to impact property tax bills.

In Wisconsin, the state sets annual revenue limits for school districts, which control how much total funding districts may receive per student.
